Stories about Gästrikland for the future

About the project

The project will document stories and tales about and from Gästrikland. Through writing, photography, audio recordings, and video recordings, old stories will be made available and passed on.

The project will have workshops in schools, invite to storytelling evenings, and also produce a podcast about Gästrikland.

The project is run by ABF Gästrikland in collaboration with the Guide Association GästrikeGuiden, the County Museum of Gävleborg, Gästrike Hälsinge Heritage Association, as well as schools and local historians in the Gästrike region.

From the application

”We have come into contact with people who have fantastic stories to tell. Stories that have a strong cultural value and need to be passed on.

It is about creating an understanding of how society has become what it is and how we have been shaped by it.

These stories constitute an important part of Gästrikland's cultural heritage and our own history.”

Purpose of the project:

That people in Gästrikland should be inspired to learn more about our history. The project will make information and knowledge about Gästrikland accessible and transfer it to the region's inhabitants and others interested in Gästrikland.

Goals of the project:

To document stories from people in Gästrikland, convey them to new target groups, and preserve them for future generations. The collected material will be produced in a podcast with ten episodes as well as study material with films.
