It is easy to apply for support from Leader. We are here to guide you from idea to implementation of the project and completion.
Apply for project support with us
Below you will find information about what constitutes a project for Leader Gästrikebygden and how you can submit your project idea to us. Please feel free to contact us at info@leadergastrikebygdenllu.se and we will brainstorm together.
Step 1
Does your project fit with us?
Do you have an idea that develops your rural area? Does the idea meet the following points?
- There is a local need for the idea to be implemented
- There are several of you on site collaborating on the idea
- The idea is beneficial to others than yourselves
- The idea is innovative
- The idea is environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable
Do you have such an idea? How exciting! Proceed to step 2 and submit your idea to us.

Step 2
Submit your idea
We want you to submit a description of your idea that fits on an A4 and answers the questions:
- Why is the project needed? (What need exists?)
- What do you want to achieve with the project? (What are the goals?)
- Who will benefit from the project and in what way?
- What activities will be carried out in the project? For example, will something be created? Prepared? Are you planning meetings or events? Other?
- Approximately how much money are you seeking and what will the money be used for?
- Who will collaborate in the project?

Step 3
Apply
Always contact us at the office before you start your application. Once we have confirmed that everything is ready, do the following:
- Arrange a power of attorney to access the e-service. Here you will find the power of attorney at the Swedish Board of Agriculture
- Go to the e-service for project support and log in to My pages with bank-ID
- Select Start the service and begin a new application
- Enter a name for your application, the name should be short and summarize your project
- Select support Locally led development through Leader and New application for support within Leader 2023–2027
- Select Leader Guest Village and then follow the steps in the application. Contact us at the office if you are unsure
- When you have filled in your application, press save and use the Download button
- Email your draft to us at info@leadergastrikebygdenllu.se and we will review your application together before you press submit

When your application is complete, it will be discussed at a decision meeting. If it receives a yes from our board, the application will be forwarded to the Swedish Board of Agriculture for final processing.
Step 4
Implement the project
When you have received your decision on support from the Swedish Board of Agriculture, it is time to get started. Keep in mind that if you choose to start the project before the Swedish Board of Agriculture's processing is complete, you do so at your own risk.
- Read your decision on support carefully before you start your project and before you submit your application for payment. In your decision on support, you will find what applies. If you do not follow the conditions in the decision, it may lead to deductions.
- Apply for a change if there are changes in the project. This could be if the timeline, budget, or something else significant needs to be adjusted. If anything deviates from what is stated in your decision on support, you should assume that you need to make an application for a change. Please feel free to contact us at the Leader office if you are unsure!
- Register your bank account/bank giro. For the Swedish Board of Agriculture to be able to pay out the support, you need to register a bank account via My pages on the Swedish Board of Agriculture's website.
- At the Swedish Board of Agriculture, you will find the complete summary of what is good to consider after you have received your decision and are going to apply for payment.

Local needs, engagement, and effects
Can your idea solve a real need for the benefit of many? This means that more than just you who are applying want to collaborate in the implementation and take responsibility for what is created.
Sustainability – people, environment, and economy
Will your idea be implemented sustainably? This means an inclusive, equal, and non-discriminatory way of working where everyone can participate. No unnecessary environmental burden occurs. The costs of implementing the project are reasonable. There is a long-term plan for how the final result will be managed.
Feasible to implement
Is there a plan for how the idea will be implemented in project form? This means that there is a selected organization that is the project owner with stable finances and routines for administration and reporting. That there is a team that collaborates to implement the project sustainably.
Red thread
When your idea is to become a development project funded through leader, many want to assess the application and follow the project. The red thread should be easy to follow and understand based on the project's purpose, goals, activities, and budget.
