Stories from the District Årsunda
The project aims to bring to life cultural-historical sites and various natural environments in Årsunda through stories. Through a mapping system, residents and tourists can visit different places to experience and learn about the district. Marked on the map are places with stories in the form of photo documentation, audio recordings, and video clips with actors recounting stories from Årsunda. There will be loops of various lengths and accessibility. The idea is that the places should be visited on foot or by bike.
The project is carried out in collaboration between the various local organizations Årsunda Heritage Association, the orienteering section within Årsunda Sports Association, Strandbaden, and Årsunda Viking. The project owner is Insektslandet.

From the application
”Many stories are carried by older generations. There is a great interest in cultural history and a need for generational change for the stories to live on.
We want to create a bridge between older and younger through experiences at various places in the district. At the same time, we want to inventory and spread knowledge about different types of nature and get more people to go out into nature and move.”

The Whip Pine
Outside Årsunda Church stands the two-stemmed whip pine. Here, parishioners who broke the law could be bound for punishment with whipping. The whip pine is one of many exciting places and stories that will be highlighted in the project.
Purpose of the project:
To create knowledge and interest in Årsunda, preserve its cultural history, and pass on stories from older to younger generations, as well as spread facts about different natural environments. To make more people feel involved in their district and the local history and nature. To experience their district in a new way while also moving and improving health.
Goals of the project:
To collect and document stories from older individuals connected to Årsunda. To create a mapping system with marked visitor sites linked to video stories, audio recordings, and photo documentation. To conduct an inventory and presentation of natural environments in the district. An inauguration event with storytelling and the opportunity to test the loops and the various places.
